Solvay SA operates in the chemical and plastic businesses worldwide. The company?s Chemicals segment offers barium and strontium products, calcium chloride, caustic soda, allylic products, chlorinated inorganics, chlorinated solvents, fluor, magnesium, peroxygen products, polyglycerols, precipitated calcium carbonate, soda ash, and sodium bicarbonate products, as well as advanced materials for the purposes in electronic; and other high tech applications, such as LCD screens. Its Plastics segment offers ultra polymers, fluorinated fluids, biomaterials, fluoroelastomers, sulfone polymers, fluorinated polymers, fluoropolymer coatings, semi-aromatic polyamides, liquid crystal and high-barrier polymers, PTFE, PVDC, polymers processing aids, and crosslinkable compounds; and vinyls comprising plasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC) compounds, PVC alloys, rigid PVC compounds, PVC copolymers, emulsion PVC, suspension PVC, and regenerated PVC. Solvay primarily serves chemical, glass, paper, human and animal food processing, construction and architecture, electricity, electronics, automobile, consumer goods, water and environment, and packaging industries, as well as detergents, cleaning, and hygiene product industries. The company was founded in 1863 and is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.
